Board Member and Executive Director – Sister Michele Morris
For over 32 years, this petite and humble nun has been the co-founder and driving force of the House of Yahweh. As a dedicated sister of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet for over 62 years, Sister earned a lifelong teaching credential and taught school for over 27 years. Sister Michele has always been a pioneer. She was the first of her order to become a Parish Coordinator, and was the first to live outside her community in order to best fulfill her mission to serve “our dear neighbors.” Sr. Michele was a Parish Coordinator of St. Catherine of Laboure where her passion to help the poor ignited her to co-found the House of Yahweh on November 1, 1982. Sister’s strong faith has sustained her through the battles with the City of Lawndale, relocation to the new site on Marine Ave and financial challenges of the recessions. Sister Michele is a truly gifted leader and we are privileged to have her as our Executive Director.
Acting Board Chairman and current Board Secretary – Kimberly Hee
Ms. Hee joined the Board in 2001 and serves as Secretary. She is currently also serving as Interim President. Ms. Hee earned her MA in Public Policy from Claremont University and spent 20 years working for a non-profit community based organization and the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Office managing federal, state, and local health services programs, crime prevention programs and law enforcement programs. She also directed fundraising and developed public and private grant applications. Ms. Hee continues her tenure with the City of Los Angeles working for the Port of Los Angeles administering contracts for the Office of the City Attorney.

A long-time supporter of the House of Yahweh, Ms. Bowman joined the Board in November 2013. After earning an MBA at Loyola Marymount, she spent 25 years in the financial industry sector, originally in commercial banking with First Interstate, and later in senior management positions in real estate lending/asset management with HomeFed Bank and lastly, with JER Partners, Inc., a private real estate firm based on the east coast. After 9/11, Ms. Bowman decided to pursue her real passion, teaching children, and she went back to school to earn her credential. Ms. Bowman has been working for Paramount Unified Schools since 2005, and is currently a Middle School Teacher at Zamboni Middle School.

A Message from Sister Michele Morris, Executive Director
The driving force that makes the House of Yahweh successful is LOVE.
One act of kindness done out of love is eternal.
Without love -- acts, no matter how good, are just that – acts.
Thank you for supporting HOY with your loving acts of kindness these past 34 years!
